Hello, I haven't been on this board for awhile, but there is something really bothering me, so I hope someone can share some insight, advice, etc. I have been on clomid now for 5 cycles, and supposedly didn't ovulate on any of them. The highest dose I was on is 150 mg. I was monitored by an ultrasound my last cycle, and the woman who did the ultrasound said my ovaries weren't even stimulated. Well, I guess my question is, have any of you suffered from anovulation, lost weight, and then started ovulating on your own with regular cycles? I know maybe it sounds far fetched, but It's hard enough to pay for the clomid plus the ultrasounds, etc. I can't imagine having to pay for a more extensive treatment. BTW, I was also on metformin, which wasn't too expensive. I just don't know if my hormones are THAT out of whack as to why the clomid wouldn't even stimulate me. I'm just really down right now and I don't know what else to do. I'm only 26, will be 27 next month, and I just don't know where else to turn. Anyone's thoughts, opinions, and advice appreciated. Thanks, Avery

Avery, I cut out sugar and lost 20 lbs and started to ovulate almost on my own. I was also taking chinese herbs. Ask them if you can try Femara. That seemed to work much better on me. Clomid worked but I had to take it for 10 days.

Hi, just wanted to share my story with you. I was not at all stimulated by Clomid. I never o'ed on my own. I would go a year without AF. I was fortunate enough to have a successful preg. with the help of follistim and some other injections. Since then (4 years ago), I have lost 103 pounds and am now getting AF regularly. I have yet to determine if I'm actually ovulating, but I just starting OPK's and temping to try to see if I "O" or not. I have 2 months left of IF coverage on my insurance, so I think I'm going to go ahead with injections for 2 months and if that doesn't work, I'll keep trying the natural way. Best of luck to you!!

Thank you both for responding.
Dawnymarie- Thank you for those suggestions. I am willing to try anything before I would have to be put on clomid again. I got really bad pains in my ovaries for over 2 weeks after stopping the last pill of clomid. The lady who did my ultrasound didn't understand why I was having so much pain, when my ovaries weren't even stimulated. I can't explain it, but I would literally have to hunch over just to ease the pain a little.

AmyZach- Thank you for your story. I did have a normal cycle in high school, and then it stopped when i was 18. Now I'm lucky to get a period every 3-4 months at a time, and my ob/gyn doesn't even think I ovulated when I do have a period. He said that I just have such a build up over the last 3-4 months, that my lining just sheds on its own because it can't hold no more. What I wouldn't do just to go back to normal. That's why I was hoping that if I was able to lose weight, I would naturally regain a normal cycle. The only thing that stumps me, is that I've had blood work done and it always comes back normal. Does that mean that my hormones are normal? If that would be the case, then I would think that something else is causing anovulation.

Sorry to ramble, but I've been suffering with this for almost 9 years and nobody (doctors) seem to know what to do. I feel as though I have to take things into my own hands and the only place I know where to begin is by losing weight. Thanks again both of you. It really gives me hope that there is one other possible option for me. Avery

;) HELLO AVERY. ITS MY FIRST TIME BEING ON THIS SITE. I JUST HAPPEN TO READ ABOUT YOUR PROBLEM. BEING OVER WEIGHT IS NOT ONLY THE PROBLEM, BECAUSE I HAVE SOME FRIENDS THAT ARE OVERWEIGHT BIG TIME AND THEY HAVE KIDS. I AM ALSO HAVING A PROBLEM GETTING PREGNANT, I AM 28 YEARS OLD AND HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR 9 1/2 YEARS AND HAVEN'T CONCEIVED. MY HOPE IS THAT SOME DAY GOD WILL ANSWER MY PRAYERS. IF YOU DID ALL THAT YOU COULD DO AND HAVEN'T GOT PREGNANT YET, YOU NEED TO START PRAYING, BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS IN GODS HANDS. HOPFULLY I WAS HELPFULL TO YOU.
