Chances of clomid working on higher dose

Hello, for the last 2 months I've been on clomid, first 50mg, and then 100mg. I didn't ovulate either time. I got done taking 150mg and I am on CD 14. My doctor said if this time doesn't work, I will have to get help from a specialists. Have any of you girls been through the same experience. I am overweight and just wondered if I would still possibly have a chance to ovulate on 150mg. I really can't afford to do much more. I have been anovulatory for 8 years, and all my bloodwork has come back normal, so the doctors have never gave me a reason for why stopped ovulating, they just gave me medication to start my period every month. Any advice, thoughts, etc, are much appreciated.

Most definitely! I became pg with my dd on 150mg. I am also taking it this time around at 150mgs. My RE even has a protocol that increases the days you take clomid, say from cd 1 - cd8 or something and says he has a lot of success on it. Right now I am on it from cd 3 - cd7.

I didn't ovulate either without clomid and not until i reached the 150mg dosage.

GOOD LUCK. I hope this is it.

BTW, clomid is notorious for making you ovulate late. So don't get discouraged if you don't ovulate until cd 19 or later!

Clomid got me my dd who is now 13 months old. First try was 50mg. and didn't ovulate. Second 100mg. and didn't ovulate. Third try was 100mg again but instead of taking it day 5 to 9 dr. increased to 7 days. He found to have luck with people like me not getting my period or ovulating by increasing the # of days on it and boom I ovulated and got pregnant. I do have to say I ovulated very and I mean very late and was ready to give up BM'ing but decided to hang in there just in case and I'm glad I did.

Thanks for your replies. They do give me hope. Has anyone had to take clomid past the 200mg level for it to work? My doctor won't prescribe it past 150mg, so I was just wondering. Thanks

My RE is actually bumping my dosage up to 200mg next cycle if this cycle is a BFN (which he feels will probably be that way since my progesterone wasn't as high as they like to see it 6dpo). I ovulate on 150 but he feels that it isnt a good, strong ovulation (whatever the heck that means!) and is causing my LPD. So he's hoping the higher dosage will help.

Luckily I dont have problems with my lining or mucus when i'm on clomid.

Me too!...I O'd at 150mg for six months..ectopic on the sixth cycle. I am rather fluffy and the 50-100mg did not work for me. One word of caution to you...Clomid did thin my lining...not too much per my RE?? His cut off was 6.5 and my lining was at a 7. I really didn't know the difference...but I this month will be my third month on tamoxifen (which is very much like clomid but does not thin the lining) and my lining was 11 in Oct. and 15 in Nov. RE was very happy with that. He swear that my lining being at 7 had nothing to do with the ectopic...but I will always wonder what if? the egg could not implant in my lining and found it's way back out into my thicker tube??? Probably not...but  ...I would give the 150mg a try..and maybe even talk to an RE about tamoxifen. I had very good size follicles both months...just gotta catch that egg!!

I am over weight too and my RE told me that I needed to lose weight, excerise more, stop drinking sodas, etc. I started on a low dose of clomid and I would only get a 2 or 3, but once I started to excerise and eat better and she moved me to 100 mg I got a 14 on my last try. I am not preggers yet, but that was the highest that I have ever had on progesterone levels.
