Recommendations for YUMMY low-cal foods

I'm looking for recommendations from others who have found good meals and snacks that are low-cal.

I am a vegetarian so am especially looking for no-meat foods, but feel free to share anything you really love so this thread can be helpful to everyone.

Here are a couple I like:

Weight Watchers "Smart Ones" 3-cheese ziti. I usually hate frozen pastas, but this one has a good flavor and is big enough to completely fill me up for only 320 calories.

Fudgesicles! Craving ice cream? Full-fat, full-size Fudgesicles have only 100 calories. Less than a soda! I know ice cream is a no-no, but this is a great option when you have that craving for ice cream and don't want a 500 calorie bowl of it.

Any other foods you recommend?

Crystal

I don't know if there is Panera Bread in AZ, but their vegetarian black bean soup is absolutely delicious and in WW world, only 2 pts. They also have a Mediteranean (I totally butchered the spelling of that) veggie sandwich made with cilantro hummus, fresh veggies and feta cheese for 5 points. mmmmmmmmm...think I know what I'm having for dinner tonight....

I know a ton the problem is I don't make them - lol. Love skinny cow icecream bars, sundae's, flying saucers and all of them wind up being 2 points on WW, taste like the real thing and normal size. Humus on low fat wheat pita bread with some chopped up red onion is great. I personally like the roasted red pepper one. I will take brocoli and cook it a little and then throw in a bad with some pam spray and throw some bread crumbs and bake in the oven. Also (and I usually don't like sweet potato's but love these). I will peel and cut sweet potato's a little bit thicker than potato chips and put them on a non stick baking pan and spray with pam and sprinkle a little Mrs. Dash and bake till crispy.

Hello Ladies. I too am doing WW and have a question about the Panera Bread Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich. I saw on one post that it's 5 pts but according to the latest points finder i am coming up with 11 pts.

590 calories
13 g's of fat
10 g's of fiber
= 11 pts ( actual points finder only goes as high as 550 calories, sandwich has 590, so point value could be even higher)

is there something I am missing? Is this with a different bread other than the tomato basil? I am just curious because I am always looking for great tasting filling foods for less points but 11 points is a lot when I only get 24 per day.

I do the 1/2 sandwich, rather than the whole sandwich with a cup of black bean soup for what I thought was 7 pts, but sounds like its more like 8.

make sugar free jello and put it in the freezer, the texture is like ice cream!

Cool whip, add a packet of sugar free hot cocoa and re-freeze, great choc mousse!

sugar free popsicles

(can you tell I have a diabetic kid??)

Personally I am a big fan of the individually wrapped snacks. We have to count the carbs my ds eats and the nutrition info on them is usually correct. For me personally, i find it helps with portion control.

QuenValerie,

The website is www.weightwatchers.com you can use the etools. They have recipes and a recipe builder where you enter the ingredients of whatever dish you are eating and it will calculate how many points it is. it's awesome. for me the meetings help me much more than doing it on my own. The meetings are like therapy in a way. You get recipes and different ideas to lose weight and keep it off. You get tons of encouragement and meet great people going through the same things you are and their scales are way more acurate then the scales we have at home. Just a thought but whatever works for you I say go for it. Good Luck!!

Hello*!!! thank you so much*!!! I was going to WW a few many years back and did okay on it, but not that great (plus I had to lose over 100lbs...so that was daunting). I will check out the meetings though because I know after my weight loss surgery the support was GREAT*!!!! Just like these boards and IF you need support in different ways and every aspect of life*!!!
