Ok girls I need some big time encouragement. Apparently not only did I fall off the "lifestyle change" wagon but I think I ate it as well. My weight has just exploded and I am retaining HUGE amounts of water. I went from 261 to 281 in a matter of 2 and half weeks. I can't seem to get back to anywhere near normal and when I questioned my doc about it she gave me some diruetics (sp) and told DH and I not to try to conceive for awhile. RE and family doc are doing a ton of blood tests right now to see what went wrong but I just can't help but feel like a beached whale at the moment. All my clothes are tight and I look hugely swollen (which I am). I've been so down I haven't even gone to the gym in 10 days. Any tips on motivating my big butt back to the gym?

Well, the good thing is, if you are just retaining fluid, then in no time you will lose that water weight. The down side is, hopefully your water retention has nothing to do with your heart of kidneys, make sure they do a complete workup.. Stay Positive, the whole weight thing can be soooo depressing but you are not alone. My Re kept telling me to lose weight and I promised that I would, well it's 3 months later and I still weight the same 267 and I always stay in a 3lb range, either lower or higher.....

I'm not a very good motivator for myself, but I wanted to tell you to not lose courage!
I hope that all of your tests come back okay and it's just something as minimal as it's too hot outside or you've got a whacky hormone on the loose....

I am in the same exact boat. I actually started with a psychotherapist to try to get to the bottom (no pun intended) of this lack of motivation to lose weight. She's not even on my insurance plan, but one of her specialties is treating obese (hate that word) and eating disorders. She's great so far, and is familiar with pcos, which is great. The one thing I've really gotten out of it all so far is match my carbs with protein for the insulin issues, which has helped immensely. it's easy enough to do. But we're still tackling my whole idea that if I wanted to be thinner/healthier for baby making bad enough, wouldn't I be doing it? She says no, b/c why does anyone want to deprive themselves. Great. so then what?! lol She also says my eating has nothing to do with will power. That when I eat when I'm not hungry (hnunger is a complete story in itself) that it's a physical craving for food...mainly carbs. Try to deny an addict their addiction and we know what happens. Still, how do I get past this is what we're up to.
Curves keeps getting their monthly money, but I havne't gone since April! Jeez.
Mom2B, eat lots of fruit, drink lots of water, and the water retention should subside, but please get a regular blood work up to make sure kidneys, heart are functioning, like mikeysbaby mentioned.

Well it turns out that my potassium is in the tank and that is causing my body not to process sodium correctly which is leading the huge weight gain. So Doc put my on a special diet and I am meeting with a trainer in the next day or so to get started on a modified training routine. At least I'm glad to know it was just me slacking off.
