New to this board but I do post on some of the others....I hadnt been to my gyn in a long time, yes I know not good of me. When she looked at my chart she pretty much blamed my irregular periods to my weight gain. Which might be true, not denying that at all. But even when I was thinner I still have irregular AF. But the way she said it was hurtful. I know I need to lose weight. But its harder for me since I had my car accident its left me with a bad back and hip. grrr... I hate it. I don't like the size I am and I just keep getting bigger... What can I do? I can't be as physical as others so Im gonna have to come up with a plan. Any ideals??

I am sorry your OB said that....a lot of them do to be honest and it sucks. Mine wasn't even overly happy after I lost 23lbs....and I am still losing (sort of). If you can't exercise like you used to, you are going to have to change your diet. I would recommend smaller portion sizes, eating every few hours smaller meals/snacks, increase your veggies to about 75% of 2 meals a day. Try mixing up the veggies so that you don't get bored. Try to have protein with breakfast (whether it is in your cereal/milk or with a small handful of almonds)...NEVER skip breakfast.
Also, make sure that you are taking a multi-vitamin...they really do start to help your body function more optimally after awhile.
Good luck! I am there with you...trying to lose the weight that is!

What a crappy doc! My old doc gave me his homemade guide book for weight loss that said stuff like "I hate watching fat people shovel down cheeseburgers, it makes me sad to see them be so pathetic." Needless to say I fired him...
I've found that high fiber foods work well for me. I also eat smaller meals more often.
Have you tried swimming and other water exercises? I hate the thought of putting on a bathing suit, but swimming works for me and my bad knees.
Good luck!

Ok first of all you need to find a new doctor. I was in the same boat as you. I have always had irregular periods from the beginning and was only 150 in high school and not at all heavy and just packed on weight as I hit my 20's. Well I went to see my OBGYN about starting a family and concerned about irregular periods and he basically said it was because of my weight even though I mentioned when I was thin it was the same he didn't want to listen so I left distraught, cried a bit and found a new doctor who confirmed how I felt that if it was the weight I wouldn't of had an issue when thin and didn't even mention my weight. Well 3 cycles of clomid later I was pregnant and now have a soon to be 9 month old. Don't get depressed. Find a new doctor that isn't fat phobic and go from there.

I have fibromyalgia and have a bad back because of an injury in a car wreck( actually 2 bad wrecks). I went to see a Dr who told me some of my problems with pain and an abnormal liver panel were because I was fat. I didnt like hearing that, but it was the truth. I started watching my diet and started aquacise 5 times a week. I have now lost over 100 pounds. I thanked that Dr the last time I saw him. He told me most people ignore him when he says stuff like that, but he was glad he got through to me.
He helped me face the truth and change my life. He did me a huge favor.

Eating breakfast is the most important. Also adding fruits and veggies especialy green veggies. Some weeks I don't get to go to the gym adn I still lose as long as I watch my portion sizes. Also I do weight watchers and it is a great preogram. Good luck

You know what I hated, I had a doc that I loved till when I started becoming irregular she wrote on a precription pad "LOOSE WEIGHT", now I think that was a bit extreme. Needless to say I left her after that appointment. Went to another Dr., I loved her, she was the one that got the IF started, with my HSG and tests and what not.
Well while at my HSG, she told me that she could not perform it because she just found out that she was preg, but she wanted to be there to support me and my DH. Now that I just adored about her. After that I started going to my RE, called last week to make my yearly, and she has left, and I have no clue on where she has gone. That so sucks!!!

I've gained and gained and gained over the years- I'm at my all time high! Neither my regular family physician (who I've known for years and can be VERY straight-forward with me - we worked midnights together when he was a resident), nor my RE said one word about my weight being part of why i can't conceive (I'm an unexplained after ever test possible). I'm sure it has something to do with it.
I've tried everything - dieting, treadmill, gym membership, recumbent bike (that's not too bad), but for me, what works and works well is swimming. I know that. BUT, I'm too lazy or too self-conscious to go to a public pool. I've begged my DH to get me an oval for my backyard. He finally did this year. I got 2 water-exercise videos, (one low impact for pregnant moms, beginners and those with injuries, etc. and one high impact). I put a tv in the garage, opened the window so I can see it from the pool and was ready to lose. Well, believe it or not, I've only used the video (beginner one) twice. Just getting in the pool, walking, doing some treading, kicking, and other moves from the videos has helped. I have not missed a day in the pool yet (it's been 7 weeks now) and I've lost 12 pounds without changing anything else. AND I'm on medication that is supposed to make me gain.
You may want to give swimming a try if you can. It is GREAT for the joints, for old injuries and new and it's actually relaxing.

I am overweight and am starting my third cycle of clomid. started at 150mg then 200mg. It was suggested I add a shot of HcG to the routine. I have taken the clomid on days 5-10. This has caused my whole cycle to last 34 days. (unusual for me) can someone tell me on what day I should give myself the shot? TYVM in advance!
