Ladies, I really am in desperate need of some of your expertise here. My story is a little long, I'll try to shorten it some.
Have been ttc for about 2 1/2 yrs. Was initially dx with PCOS. Put on metformin 500mg once daily. I had only ovulated twice in 8 mos. Dh count was ok, motility a little low, morphology a bit off too.
Was put on clomid for about 3 -4 cycles. 3 with BMS, 1 with IUI. All BFN.
After last IUI, decided to take a break. Got pg on own with an ectopic. Resloved on it's own. HSG showed clear sailing. Was tested for MTHFR ( I believe that I have one copy) and I was +. Was put on folic acid and baby asa.
Switched to IVF w/ ICSI 33 eggs ret, 13 "viable" 2 day 3 embies tf in feb, BFN again.
FET done 4/27. Had 3 3 day 8 celled embies put back. Again, BFN. RE had to thaw 8 embies to get the three to tf (which he said was not good) leaving us with 3 left.
Which brings me to my question. Are we missing something here? I feel that there is a definite immune issue here. I think my eggs are poor quality. Of course there is no way of knowing unless we do PGD. And I will the next IVF.
But is there anything that you have heard of that I may be able to ask RE to test for? I have heard something about E-tegrity/ beta 3 integrin that's in the lining of uterus. W/o this protein, embies can't implant. I have had an endometrial biopsy which was neg he says.
I am currently getting a 2nd opinion. I feel something important is being missed here.
Anyone have a similar experience that you may have gotten a resolution to? Or anyone just have an opinion about this, I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks for listening, and for your help in advance. :)

In your shoes, I would investigate Dr. Toth http://www.fertilitysolution.com He specializes in undiagnosed, underlying infections, testing for over 50 bacteria in both men and women that can affect egg production, tubal integrity, lining quality, sperm count and quality, fertility, and pregnancy. In addition to looking for so many more types of bacteria, he cultures the specimens for weeks, not 48 hours (standard), long past when other doctors would have said there's no problem. Don't be too quick to rule out the possibility... usually his IF patients have had no symptoms except the above-mentioned IF problems. He's written two books, both of which are available to read (in their entirety) on his web site for free.

That's my $.02, based on what you've written.

P.S. If your eggs are indeed of "poor quality," that's not just an inevitable reality forever. Immune treatment (for properly diagnosed immune problems -- see the Immune Issues bulletin board) and/or antibiotic therapy (for properly diagnosed bacterial infections) often result in improved egg quality within three months. PGD is an end-result test. See what's beneath/behind the problems you're experiencing, then solve them. Good luck!

I have been through 6 IUIs, 2 IVFs and 3 miscarriages. I recently went to a new doctor for a second opinion. He stated in the very beginning of all my treatments I should have been given a Clomid challenge test. you take clomid and have two blood tests done (day 3 and day 9). He said this should tell them if my egg quality is good or not. I haven't had a chance to look it up yetbut it may be worth asking about. I would have loved to have known in the beginning if my egg quality is poor, not after these last 4 years of trying.

Just a thought.
