Snape and his talent for potions (spoiler discussion)

We were re-watching the first movie again (my kids are into Harry Potter right now).

Knowing that Snape was brilliant with potions got me to thinking about his stint as the Potions professor. Anyway, when he opens the class he says he'll teach them to brew glory......yada, yada and at the end, he says he can even make potions to put a stopper in death.

Anyone think that he gave Dumbledore some kind of special potion to take before he left to get the horcrux? Something that would stop death?

After all, if Lilly could do something to protect Harry from the killing curse that Voldemort did, couldn't Snape do something to protect Dumbledore since he was so talented with potions?

Ooh. That would be interesting if he had.

Dumbledore was having Snape give him a potion... hmmmm... interesting theory. The potion was probably for the horcrux retrieval, but wouldn't be neat if it served a dual pupose unknowingly that night?

yeah...but didn't Dumbledore show up in the paintings in the office? Wouldn't that make him dead?

okay here is my two cents.

I have never liked snape as a charaater in the stories i distrust him. he has put his needs above harry's and the order of the phoenix(sp) many diffrent times. for example when asked to give harry lessons so that he can hide things from voltermort. he stops when harry finds out about his dad teaseing snape.
I think that snape is working for his own self intrest.

Yeah. I'm still having a hard time believing Dumbledore is dead. If he is the greatest wizard that ever lived, how could he not defend himself against Snape or know he was a traitor?

But didn't it say that Harry knew D was dead, when the immobilising spell was broken in D's office? That only the death of the person who cast the spell, would release it?

Sorry, I'm late for all these discussions :D

I'm also late for this discussion...where have I been????

I agree with MarieOz...the body bind curse was broken when Snape did the Avada Kedavra curse...so I would imagine that D did die UNLESS...

D was a skilled legilimens, as was Snape...maybe he communicated to Snape that Harry was there under the invisibilty cloak, and the curse. Snape performed the (non-verbal) counter curse, and hence Harry was freed!

D is now in hiding...and that's why Fawkes left Hogwarts to be with D.

Any idea when book 7 will be released?
