Hello. I'm kind of new to this board. Actually, I'm pretty much a lurker. I'm 32 years old, and have three beautiful children. My ex husband, who was abusive, insisted on a sterilization after the birth of #3. The Doctor cut off most of my tubes (over 4 cm), and there was an irrepairable complication when he knicked a tube during surgery. I remarried last year. He does not have any bio. children of his own. The tubes are most likely not repairable, and at my age, we decided on IVF.
I am in Indiana. Our insurance doesn't hardly cover dental, let alone something as big as IVF. We narrowed it down to two doctors. Entire procedure estimate at one place is $8000, and at another $12,000 but they have a much higher success rate.
So, that brings me into this message board. I am 5'6 1/2 and weigh 213. In March, I weighed 242, so that's down quite a bit but still considered obese. My question is this: Should I go for my first IVF this fall at 213, or should I risk waiting to see if I can lose weight and go for the IVF in the spring, when I'm 33? It's so expensive, and I'm really concerned about the age thing, but the weight thing stinks too. And, the money thing is worst of all. So, what do I do? Will I have terrible egg production because of my weight, and what impact will waiting until older have?
I want to have the best possible chances. I'm not getting any younger, and my husband is having baby-itis. . . you know, he is really wanting a little one badly. Don't get me wrong, he loves the three as his own. I just want to give him this. . .
