Question about Harry's Owl

We were watching the 1st movie last night. If memory serves, the book does match the movie on this aspect discussed below.
Harry did not pick his owl himself. Hagrid brought it to him. Has anyone else ever wondered if his owl was an animagus or somehow picked by Dumbledore to watch Harry, etc.?

Yup, I've wondered. Hedwig seems to be a pretty savvy owl to me. This is another question I'd like to see answered in Book 7!

Is it time for book 7 yet?:D

Also, have you ever noticed Dumbledore and the owl being in the same room together? I can't recall it. Anyone think Hedwig could be Dumbledore? Of course, we'd have to assume he really isn't dead if this is the case. I would find it hard to believe that others could be animagus and Dumbledore not have been one.
If Hedwig was an animagus, who would it be if it wasn't Dumbledore?

Did you also notice that in Book 6, owls weren't being used to send messages within the school? For example, in previous books, if Hagrid wanted to invite Harry to dinner, he sent an owl (I believe Hedwig usually delivered the message). In this book, Hagrid and Dumbledore both used a variety of students to hand-deliver their notes. I wondered why as I was reading it. Was it because owls were being searched? Was it because Hedwig got injured while trying to deliver a message in a previous book?

In this latest book, Hedgwig was in her cage as Harry waited for D at the Dursleys. Didn't he bring her downstairs w/his trunk when he and D left? I don't think she's D in animal form; she may not be an animagus at all. But I do think there is something special about her for her to be picked for Harry.
I noticed the lack of owl use in book 6, too. Since when do wizards hand-deliver messages?

I've never thought of that, but it's an interesting idea.
I definitely think Hedwig is different from other owls, but I don't think she's Dumbledore. Dumbledore has said numerous times that he keeps a closer eye on Harry than Harry could ever realize, which I've wondered about numerous times...esp thinking Hedwig might be somehow involved in that.
The reason for no owl-post was that all the owls had to go through Filch to be searched and all the post was being searched and then delivered to the students. I don't think it is normal to use owl-post for inner-Hogwarts delivery tho. I haven't seen that in the past. Remember Umbridge wrote letters to McGonnagal and had Harry deliver them, so hand-delivery is done. :) I suspect Peaves would give the owls hell if they flew up and down the corridors delivering messages from student to student. ;) LOL!

We were watching the third movie a few nights ago and I noticed that Dumbledore's podium is an owl. Now, I know owl's are common in the wizarding world but it did make me think about Hedwig even more.
Hedwig probably isn't Dumbledore but I'm still not unconvinced that she is not an animagus.
oh wow...I never thought of any of this stuff, LOL. this is a great bb! jes

Gee, thanks for more unanswered questions!! As if book 6 didn't give us enough on its own!

In the 3rd movie, Hedwig is waiting at the leaky cauldron in the same room with Cornelius Fudge and the guy helping Harry with his luggage said something to the effect "Right smart owl you got there Harry. He arrived about 5 minutes earlier than you."
I'm wondering again if Hedwig was an animagus and she was meeting with Cornelius prior to Harry's arrival?
