Hi my name is Jen and I'm really glad I found a Full Figured board!
I justed turned 37 and live in the Atlanta Metro area. I have a daughter who is 5 conceived via clomid and IUI. At that time we had male factor problems.

Now the problems seem to be more focused on me. I ovulate too soon with immature eggs. I was diagnosed with PCOS. However, I do ovulate and have regulars cycles. In addition to this, I have a fibroid which is causing the right ovary not to be seen on ultrasounds.

I did one cycle of Letrozole and IUI. No mature follicles on left, right unknown. We did IUI anyways bust.

I'm now toward the end of my second cycle -- IUI/follitism. No mature follicles on left, right unknown. However, my estrogen levels during this cycle was great so they think something might have happened on the right. So we did the IUI. I test on Monday.

I asked my RE what the next step was -- he said to lose 60-80 pounds. He won't treat me. I have already lost 35 pounds since January. He wants another 60 gone. I'm on metformin and joined Curves. I think he gave up on me and was fat-phobic. If this cycle is a bust, I'm firing him and going somewhere else.

Do you find being overweight an issue for treatment? I'm lighter than I was when I had my daughter.

Thanks
Jen :hismilie:

Welcome!

As for doctors :
I would have gone to another doctor before the first 35 lbs were gone. I have no patience for fat-phobic doctors....My doctor has never once mentioned that he wont treat me until I lose weight. It was dicussed.....but in a better way I think. He said it would be good to lose weight for my health and for future pregnancies but we could go ahead with TTC as I did it. I hope you can find lots of good info and support here :)

My regular ob/gyn casually mentioned losing weight but he said he wasn't too concerned about it. I got pregnant after two cycles of clomid. I lost my son at 28 weeks though. Now we are seeing an RE and he's not once mentioned my weight. Because I have PCOS he did start me on metformin right away which he said should help me lose weight. I'd fire your doc too if I were you. It's one thing to suggest losing weight and being helpful but to not want to treat you at all is bad. I'm sure Atlanta has many wonderful physicians who would love to help you.

Good luck!!!

Amy
