I am new to this section. I have just started taking Metformin after being diagnosed with PCOS. I am scheduled for an HSG test this coming Thursday. I read that it is not safe to take while having certain tests done. Is the HSG test okay to do while on it?

Anytime you have an xray done using iodine contrast (dye they inject) you should stop taking Metformin 48hrs before hand. I don't know the exact reason, but I do know that it is important that you not take it.

My doctor had me stop it...I believe three days before my test. Call your doctor and make sure of the time frame.
