Hi Ladies,
I had primary, and now secondary IF and I just went back to my IF Dr yesterday. She mentioned that it is now recommended that ladies with a BMI higher then 25 do better with Intra muscular or IM injections then the sub cutaneous (sub q) injections. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of that?
TIA,
Julie

Hi Julie,
I haven't heard that, and I just spoke to my RE about my BMI because he won't move me on to IVF until it's under 40. I'm right there, so I only need to lose about 10 pounds.
I took Follistim last cycle in my belly, and it appears that I was stimulated just fine by it. I had a couple of mature follicles at time of IUI.
Did you research it yet online? I would be interested if others have been told the same thing.
Smiles,
Amy :)

Hi Julie
Yes that is true. I did all my injections intramuscle. My Re felt I would get better results from the meds. He was right. I didnt respond very well with subq. In the middle of my first IVF I did subq but was switched to intramucle.
But with that being said. Some larger women have responded just as well with subq.
My question last time did you do them subq. If you did and it worked it might still work for you. My Dh became a pro at intramucle. The funny thing is, If he needs to get a injection he just about passes out.

Thank you for both of your responses!
Denise- Yes 5 years ago, I did them all sub q and had fine results. I have to say I am VERY nervous about the IM shots. I have to do them myself, as my DH is very squeemish and cannot do them. :(
