Great Board!

Hi Everyone,
I am new here...I've been reading old threads and just had to register. I am 30, overweight and TTC with meds since January. My husband and I started to try on our own about 8 months before that. I knew my cycles were messed up and that something was wrong - a friend at work told me to get in at a clinic and tell them that we've been trying for over a year so they'd see us....I am thankful for the advice or we'd have gotten started even later. They say that I am "reading pcos". I was on clomid (50, 75, 100 & 150) with no ovulation. I am now on month two of met (now up to 1700). I have a check-up on monday with my dr - the first since I started met. Since January two of my stepsisters have gotten pregnant. Its so hard - I want to be supportive and happy for them, but I am so jealous at how easy it has been for them....and I can not even ovulate! I really need to work on the weight thing - I do get on the treadmill for 20 mins 6 days a week (maybe a bit longer on Saturdays), but its really not enough. Has anyone else with weight issues had ovulation success with med/clomid combo? I'm guessing that'll be my next step. Wow - I'm sorry for writing a novel my first time out....it's just great to be able to share with women who get it!!!! :)

Basara,
Welcome to the board. :hismilie:
The ladies here definitely get it, most us are in the same exact boat as you. I have been TTC for 6 yrs and have been on clomid for like 10 cycles, I had 2 IUI's fail and just yesterday received a negative on my 1st IVF. :bawl:
I am also overweight, have PCOS and my husband has MF (low sperm count)with all this wrong its hard to stay positive...but we need too..
I wish I would have started treatments as early as you are we didn't even see a RE until we were almost 3 yrs in to TTC.
What did the RE think you should do??? and do you have insurance???
we were fortunate to finally have insurance, we have spent thousands before this though.
Sharon

P.S. Where are you from....Michigan here.

Thanks for your replies Ladies. Sorry I'm slow getting back on...busy weekend.
Sharon - I am sorry to hear about your negative result this time around. Are you able to ovulate on your own? In theory we can work on the overweight thing, right? Hopefully meds with do it for the the pcos & low sperm count is not the same as no sperm count. Hang in there! My Appointment went ok - basically nothing new. The plan is to give the met more time to kick in and then add clomid back in (likely we won't be doing this for about 3 & a half months). I am going to see a dietician a week from today. I had managed to lose about 10 pounds (feb-april) but have not been able to get rid of more and Dr wants me to do more with calorie control to see if weight loss will help trigger ovulation. Thankfully we do have insurance -but there is a limit the amount they will cover for infertility. Hopefully things will work out before hitting the limit.
Hope you have a great week!
Basara
PS - I'm from Wisconsin
