JKR dispelled rumors by quoting the following:-
· HBP will not contain chapters entitled: "Lupin’s Papers", "Pettigrew's Pamphlets", "Sirius's Circulars" or "the Pocket Crosswords of Severus Snape".
· Colin and Denis Creevey won't be the new Gryffindor Beaters - the beaters will be totally new finds of the captain's.
· Nicolas Flamel will not teach Potions at Hogwarts, as when he destroyed the Philosopher's Stone, he died.
· Luna and Neville will not get together in HBP.
· Half-Blood Prince will not be 38 chapters long.
· Harry will not stand trial again in HBP, he leaves the Dursleys early for a "much pleasanter" reason than a court case.
· There will be no character named "Icicle," and JK said that she didn't recall saying there ever would be.
· Dumbledore is not a relative of Harry
· Harry is not related to Voldemort and he is not related to Salazar Slytherin.
· Lily Potter is not alive.
· Lily was not a death eater
· No prequel books are planned (no books before Harry's time at Hogwarts)
· Crookshanks is not an Animagus
· Neville is not the son of Peter Pettigrew (where do these people come up with this stuff?!)
· Remus Lupin does not have a twin brother.
· The next book with not be called "Harry Potter and the Green Flame Torch" or "Harry Potter and the Mountain of Fantasy"
· JK does not have any parts in the films
· Harry Potter will not be the new Minister of Magic

SO interesting that JKR confirms that LILY Potter is not alive, but says nothing about James. Also, isn't it strange that Dumbledore keeps saying that Harry was given extra magical protection because his MOTHER died while protecting him, but Dumbledore never says anything about his FATHER dying to protect him. And how (& when & from whom) did Dumbledore come into possession of that invisibility cloak??

Can you tell I'm expecting a major plot twist here?

I was reading a site that had the same list but instead said "Dudley is not a Death Eater" ... wondering if the Lily above is a typo?

could Harry be related to Prof McGonagell (sp?)...I wonder if that is his grandmother??? Remember in the first HP - Dumbledore says Prof McGonagell I figured you would be here.... Maybe the Prof is James Mom or grandmother???

Except that both Harry's parents' "echoes" came out of Voldemort's wand at the end of GoF, along with the other people Voldemort had recently killed, so neither of them can be alive. Dumbledore has said there is no way to reverse a death spell. Rowling has also said on her site that his parents are not alive. I think there was a rumor that Lily was a death eater cuz she also addresses that on her site. Rather indignantly as well! LOL!

I have always wondered about Professor McG too, I think there is a connection there but don't know what yet.

Somebody came out of the wand who LOOKED like Harry's father. If he had switched bodies with someone else before Voldemort arrived, then that could explain it. Somebody mentioned the Ultimate Unofficial Guide to Harry Potter in another post; it talks about this in detail.

I may be completely off track, but the appearance of the shadows from the wand doesn't deter me! However, if JKR said specifically that both Harry's parents are dead, then that does! :)
