Can anything be done to help them? Is there physical brain damage from the torture that can't be reversed w/magic? I don't remember exactly, but did JKR give them any hope?

From what came out in the last book (OoP) they are in the section of the hospital for "incurable magical maladies" so I'm guessing there is nothing that can be done. :(

I read a "mysteries of HP revealed" book and they (the authors) thought it strange that Lucius Malfoy is mentioned several times as being a generous donater to the hospital... hmmmmm.... wonder why? He doesn't seem to be the philanthroper-type individual.... is he trying to keep the Longbottoms closely watched and/or memory charmed?

Also, what's up with Neville's memory problems? Sounds like a strong memory charm was placed on him... wonder what he'd know if it was removed/cleaned?
