I voted Snape. Maybe that plus also never getting the Defense Against the Dark Arts position is adding to his dreary personality!!!

Why can't it be Harry or Voldemort? I really need to reread 5, I started to the other night, but fell asleep before I even finished chapter one!
Well, if I have to make an uninformed vote, I'll say Dumbledore.

Rowling has said that neither Harry nor Voldemort are the HBP.

I CAN'T WAIT! My whole office has the book pre-ordered on Amazon (we are all HP geeks!) My DH thinks I'm nuts! I voted for a new character...

Malfoy--haven't read the books. I have watched the movies with Brian... He is a HP fan.

My ds and I have debated this one back and forth. Malfoy can't be it he is a pure blood. :) Unless it is a new character we are betting on Seamus Finnigan. Although that seems unlikely too. We can't wait to find out!

I'll bet it's either Snape or Neville Longbottom.

Well, since you proved me wrong on Malfoy the other day, I'll have to say a new character. Unless it could be Draco's father...Lucius Malfoy? That would be an interesting turn of events!
My choice wasn't listed, I think it will be Neville.

I guess no one else thinks it will be Neville? Oops, Ray, I just saw your reply.
Rowling has something special in mind for him, mark my words.
Connor has been asking me every day what hour exactly the next Harry Potter is coming out. He's reread every single one about 20 times. I have no idea how he's going to handle it when he realizes that I get first dibs on reading it.

I am guessing Malfoy also only because they always comment on how they are pure blood. I think there will be a twist and somehow they find out they are not as pure as they thought.

I love the thought that it is Neville. I love him and feel like he is coming into his own, espcially since the last book. I can't wait!!!! Did I say that yet? I'm such a geek!
I know nothing of what you speak?????
Never read or seen any HP anything... sorry.
Neville is a pure-blood wizard (book 5, Dumbledore spends several pages on this subject), so I left him off the list. I hesitated adding Draco since he IS a pure-blood too (as pure-bloods go!), but I threw it in there anyway.
I can't imagine Sirius' mom wasn't from a pure-blood family herself, so that rules him out in my book. Can't be any of the Weasley's cuz it is mentioned in Book 1 that they are pure-blood.
For me, it is a tossup between Godrick Gryffindor (cuz he's brought up a lot on book 2 and that's the book Rowling says sets up the intro of the HBP) and a new character. But I can't find my second book!! WAH!!!

You know Christine....I still reckon it's Neville ;) Yes I'm like a dog with a bone on that one
I voted for Seamus though because DS and I had a big discussion the other day and we both think if it's not Neville it will be Seamus.
Then again the new character could be it, but do you think JKR will introduce more and more characters....it's all way too much for my poor ol brain to process ;)
It's all getting way too exciting for us :D:D:D :jump:

Sorry for the barge, but anything HP, and I cannot resist!
I think it would be Godrick Gryffindor. We don't know his lineage, and in Book 2, Dumbledore tells Harry only a true Gryffindor would be able to pull the sword out of the Sorting Hat.
What if Gryffindor is somehow or the other related to Harry (who is also a half blood)?

This is an interesting idea. I didn't know that book 2 was seting up for HBP. We have also been debating about Hagrid (my personal favorite character) that would be cool if it was him. Wouldn't the Malfoy family have a cow over that one! :)
For all you Harry Potter fans my ds loves the web site Mugglenet.com. He says it's the best Harry Potter site.

I guessed Malfoy. Rowling likes twists!
Also, FYI...Ronen is pulling together a board for us on the bookclub board for Harry Potter and there will be a PreRelease chat. Keep your eyes open for announcements. The book club boards are located under the Community Forums. It's not up yet but I am hoping for this weekend.

If it were Malfoy i think that would be fabulous. Would love to hear him being called "half blood"
But i truly don't think it's him...
I really have no clue but hope it's not someone like Dean or Seamus.
After reading about book 2 i'm thinking maybe i need to be rereading that one instead of book 4 & 5. :hmm:

I know Neville is supposed to be pure-blooded, but there's always such a thing as an unexpected twist--and Rowling seems to take such delight in those. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

My ds would like me to ask a question of all you H.P. fans.
He thinks the Half Blood Prince is Dudley Dursley. I disagreed because Dudley is not a half-blood. Ds thinks Petunia (Dudley's mom and Lily's sister) is actually a wizard and either hides it or doesn't actually know yet. Although I've read all of the books, I can't remember facts about Lily & Petunia's parents. Can anyone who is more of an expert on HP comment on this?
The 5th book touches on this. Lily was muggle born, like Hermione. That would mean Uncle Vernon would have to be from magic parents, but he does not seem to have any knowledge other than what his wife passes on to him. Based on how negatively Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon react to anything magic, I'm doubtful it is Dudley. Tho that is an interesting thought! :D

How about Nearly Headless Nick? He's featured quite a bit in Book 2, and we still haven't found why somebody tried to take his head off....

Neville is a pureblood as well. Dumbledore says so at the end the last book when he tells harry about the prophecy and how voldemort had to choose which boy to attack, and chose the one that was a half blood like him, and not the one who was a pureblood.
How about Nearly Headless Nick? He's featured quite a bit in Book 2, and we still haven't found why somebody tried to take his head off....
Wow....NEVER even crossed my mind but you're right, in book 2 he's featured a lot. That is definitely something to consider. :hmm:

I guess a new character - but really have no clue! I haven't read any of the books - just watched the movies. :) I enjoy them - and the kids like them, too. We're anxiously awaiting the new movie to come out!
