Hi! This is my first time visiting any infertility board. My husband and I have being trying to concieve for years on our own, but earlier this year started our real infertility TX. We finally had insurance that paid for everything, so we wnet for it. I tried 3 cycles of Clomid with no ovulation, and was sent to a specialist who again tried Clomid, but monitored me. I only had 2 immature folicles and my lining wasn't thick enough. Tomarrow, I go back to see my specilaist and am supposed to start the injectible drug Follistim. I hope he allow me to start at my next cycle (July 1) since I just did the Clomid this cycle (June 1). Does anyone know if I'll have to wait or not? We will do that in conjunction with IUI with my husbands washed sperm (with a "swim up"). I sure hope this works, they think that I have PCOS and my husband has low count, motility and mobility. Any advice, thoughts, or good questions to ask my doc when I go?

Hi Hopeful :hismilie:
Welcome to the board. You are in the right direction seeing a specialist.
Because you only use clomid you may be able to proceed. Sometimes they do like amonth between cycles.
Have they ran any test to see if you do have pcos. Have they checked your tubes. IF your tubes are blocked IUI wont help. I know there is so much to consider.
Good luck with your upcoming cycle

Yes, I have had my tubes tested, and they are fine. I didn't know that there was a specific test you counld have to see if you are PCOS for sure. I think that they just assume that I have it. I am insulin resistant though, so maybe that's why they think that. I am also taking Glucophage for my insulin resistance ( I hate it - stomach problems!!) Thanks very much for the reply. :hismilie:

Hi Hopeful,
I had to go straight to IVF with ICSI so I don't know much about the Clomid and the IUI route. Just wanted to say HI and welcome and GOOD LUCK tomorrow.

Well, I went back to my specialist today, and he's not going for the injectibles yet. He wants to try one more oral drug called Letrozole (Femara). it's supposed to work directly on the egg development and not have all of the side effects of Clomid. So, basically, I do the same thing this cycle as last, only with a different oral med. I feel like I'm eternally waiting....Anyway, once my cycle starts (hopefully July 1st), then I'll see if I produce a mature egg and a thick enough lining. If so, I will get the HCG shot and IUI the next day. Has anyone had any experience with this drug? It's actually a breast cancer drug, but he says that it works beautifully for infertility and will probably replace Clomid in the next 2 years or so.
