Do any of you feel that you are in a vicious cycle of needing to lose weight because it's better for ttc, but not conceiving so you feel like eating to cheer yourself up? I do. I'm about 35 pounds overweight, and I know I should lose it for a lot of reasons: general health, so that if I get pregnant I'm closer to my ideal weight (particularly if IVF yields multiples), better self esteem, etc, etc. But every setback I have it makes me feel like, oh I deserve those chocolate chip cookies, ice cream, potato chips. I'm doing more stress eating now than I've ever done before.
Another vicious cycle is adult acne. I can't take the dumb acne medicine because that could cause birth defects. But there are no births happening here. And I'm stressed about IF, so acne is even worse! I feel like everything in my life is on hold.

I was in one of those vicious cycles of eating.
I finally decided to do something and started slowly.
I took things very slow.
I fisrt stopped buying junk food. I made it a point to drink atleast 1 bottle of water a day. then i added 2, 3, etc until i reached 6. with that alone i lost 3 lbs in one month.
then i was diagnosed with hyper-thyroid and was told to wait 3 mos to ttc.
so i joined a gym. the 1st 3 weeks i would go walk on the tread mill slowly and then go home and pass out on the bed.
I was taking it slow since It had been a long time since I've excercise.
after 3 weeks i was weighed and i lost 3 add'tl lbs and 8 lbs of fat! That was enough incentive to sign up with a personal trainer and started to eat less fat, more veggies, etc.
I'm now 16 lbs lighter since Feb and I now go to the gym atleast 5 times a week. I feel better, stronger and althought not perfect all the time, (I still have an occassional bad thing to eat), I have learned to like excercise and I plan to continue when I'm pregnant.
Start slowly, believe me I'm not done (ideally I need to loose another 50 lbs!) but my goal is another 15 before i start IVF in Aug-Sept.
Good luck!

Hi Barb!
Thanks. I think you're on the money about the water. That's one small thing I can do. Congratulations on your dedication. I'll be looking to hear about you beating those 15 pounds this summer.
