Hi all,

DH and I have been TTC for about 3 years now. I am overweight and do not ovulate regularly. It appears i have had this problem for a while now, based on blood tests and charting. Clomid made me ovulate. We have had 2 mc on Clomid( one from out first IUI) and my doctor will not prescribe it for a 7th cycle due to cancer risks. The RE in our area is an arrogant, a-- who calls himself "GOd" stating he is above God. I have heard horror stories about him and after a consultation with him and looking at the prices he charges( over $5000 for an IUI with no ultrasounds, that is the Clomid and the IUI itself) and he wants way too much for an IVF. We have no insurance ceoverage for anything related to infertility, not even office visite to see him( which were over $400 for a consultation with no testing). My question is this, has anyone used Vitex with any success in achieving ovulation

Hi Kat

So sorry for all you are going through. Some Doc's can be idiots
As far as the Vitex correct me IF I am wrong. This is a herb. I dont know anything about it. Maybe someone on the alternative board may know.
Or someone else here may have had experience with it.

Good Luck

KatLom-

I'm so sorry to hear the problems you're having. I'm not sure where you are in Florida, but I just recently moved from Central Florida. When we were actively TTC I was seeeing a doctor in Tampa/Clearwater area. I liked him a lot, but I actually liked one of the partners in his office even better. (I saw her occassionally during the whole monitoring process.) Anyway, I would recommend them if you're anywhere near that area. The group of doctor's is Bernhisel, Tarantino, Yeko and Goodman. Dr. Samuel Tarantino was my doctor, but I really liked Dr. Sandra Goodman too. I went through 3 cycles of Clomid, and 3 cycles of injectibles with their offices. Unfortunately we were not successful, but I would still recommend them.

As far as Vitex- it is an herb. You can do lots of research on it right on the web. If I'm not mistaken, it is also known as chasteberry..... You can get it in pill or liquid form. I have taken it personally, and it did help to regulate my cycles, (and my hormonal mood swings). I got it at Vitamin Shoppe. Do your research. I might even suggest consulting an herbalist or "homeopath" that specializes in natural healing.....just a thought.

Best of luck-

Hi kat

Just going to butt in here, I am currently doing herbal fertility treatment. my first Naturopath had me on vitex and false unicorn root. While my cycles did improve greatly I didn't begin to ovulate.

I am now under the care of a naturopath specialising in fertility and drink a herbal blend twice a day as well as taking vitamins and supplements and have conceived twice in 3 months but unfortunately neither one has implanted so we are working on that now.

What I would suggest is going to a health shop, most of them actually have naturopaths working there and tell them your situation, they should then be able to suggest herbs that will be right for you.

Good luck.

Regards
Debbie
