I've been reading the posts here for a while and I decided to join. You all are so supportive and really give hope to people just starting the process! I'm not sure of all the terms you guys use so forgive me if I write stuff out. :)

My husband and I have been ttc for about a year and a half. Because of some tests I had done when I was 16 I was pretty sure that I had PCOS. That was confirmed a few weeks ago when I finally went to someone about my fertility. They also found a cyst on my left ovary about six and a half cm. My husband and I meet again with our doctor on Friday to start talking about what steps to take.

I was nervous to even talk to a doctor because of my experience in the past with doctors. The cure to everything that ails me was "You're too big. Lose weight and that'll fix it." I was so relieved to find a doctor that didn't say that right off the bat!

It's also nice to find a group of people that know what I'm going through! Thanks for sharing your stories. I will probably learn more from you guys than the doctors! ;)

Hi sendai

Welcome to the board. Sounds like you have a great Doctor. I know some times it can be all overwhelming. IF you have any questions please ask.

Good Luck to you and Dh.

The dr appt went good. Because I have PCOS she started me on Glucophage. I hear the side affects are great. (NOT!) :) Then after a few days of that I take Provera to induce a period and 50 mg of Serophene later in the cycle to help with ovulation.

I am so happy to actually be doing something instead of sitting here feeling out of control. My only problem is that our insurance doesn't cover infertility so a lot of this stuff will be out of pocket. I was so worried my husband would freak once I told him the cost of things like the HSG. The fact that it wasn't even an issue to him made me feel like he understands what this means to me and that waiting would be torture. I don't think I could handle another family pregnancy without atleast doing something about my infertility issues.

I know some of you have been through the glucophage and or the serophene before so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your support!

Well I had more good news. My dr's office encouraged me to contact my insurance company to confirm the level of care that they would cover. I was under the impression from previous information that infertility was not covered but low and behold they cover alomost everything that I am doing right now with just a simple co-pay. That was a big relief! That is one less stress I have to deal with through this whole process.

What a nice surprise. I bet you are thrilled. I live in a mandated state. So my medical has to cover infertility.

AT one point the Insurance company tried to have a age cut off but they were not successfull.

I wish there was mandated coverage in every state! It sucks that some company gets to decide what I can and can't do with my body. I consider this a very important medical issue. But what can you do? Thanks for the support!
