Time for another weight update

Well it's now been 5 months to the day that I had my Lap band surgery and I'm down 84 lbs as of today. I also got AF yesterday and I'm a bit bloated so it might be another pound or two! :) I'm not sure if anyone cares about these updates but I just figured I would post once a month. Not sure if anyone out there is looking into the lap band but again I'll say it was one of the best things I could have ever done. Not invasive at all and I was back to work within a week.

Hope everyone is doing great!

wow ! congrats! I have been thinking about getting that after I get a job with medical insurance. Can you tell me more about it? Like cost, pain, and risk.
Thanks You and Congrats!

Hi Sonya,

It was one of the best things I ever did. It was done lap so no big incistions, I was only in the hospital one night and was walking around the next morning. I took one week off from work but honestly if I had to I could have went back sooner. The pain was very, very minimal and I mean that. I have a 5 year old at home and believe me just because I had surgery it didn't mean I still wasn't chasing him around. LOL! It was covered by my insurance so I can't really tell you how much it cost - probably over $20,000 when all was said and done but I only paid a couple of co-payments for doctor visits and that was it. I looked into both gastric and lap - they are both great - but I went for the lap because it wasn't really a big surgery and it's reversable if need be - though I don't see why I would ever have my band taken out. Also the risks were less with the lap. Both procedures are great and I'm not putting gastic down. It's a personal decision on what surgery you would want to get.

Don't get me wrong, the band is only a tool and you have to work at weight loss but the band really, really helps. I've never lost this much weight in my life and without the band I would have gotten fatter and fatter. I was out of control.

Good luck in what you decide to do.

Suzanne :)
