HI,
I am new to this fertilethoughts but I am not new to infertility. My husband and i have been trying for four years! I did a year of clomid.... ovulated the fist cycle and then not again. I am now taking glucophauge (insulin resistance) and will be starting clomid after aunt Flow arrives. since we tried the last time I have lost 23 lbs. I am now at 240 just 2 lbs more than I was when I got pregnant almost five years ago with our last child. Anyone had any luck with clomid /glucophauge combo?
Anyone weighing close to what I do and being 5'2" ever get pregnant? I need some hope.
Thanks, Sonya
Luck to you all

Hiya :)

I actually weight much more then you do and got pregnant on my second round of clomid. I am now on metformin ER and doing that for a few months before adding clomid in July to try and get pregnant with a second.

Good Luck!

Thanks you for the replies. It is nice to have people who understand. I work with a bunch of "older ladies" who have kids my age. They think I am crazy to put myself through this. I think it would be more crazy to wait until my age or health is such that I can't have any (kids) even with help.
Thanks Sonya
By the way JulieB
My sons bday is 5-7-01
isnt that strange?

ARGH...that is so aggravating to me when people with kids (as many as they wanted) tell me that i am crazy for doing this or that just to have another when i should be happy with the one i have.

 I fire back that its not that im unhappy with the one i want its that i want another period! I had my motherinlaw tell me once that i have a beautiful daughter (duh..i know this) and that i shouldnt put myself through all the hassle to have another, that i should just get a dog.

Grr...people say some of the most stupid and ignorant things...

Anywho, back to why im responding! hehe. I totally agree, we already have issues with getting pregnant or we wouldnt be here. Age and other factors will only make things worse as time goes on. Why wait if you are ready and wanting another.

:) Good luck

I am new here too! I did not respond well at all to Clomid because it thinned my lining too much, however Letrozole with injs. was much better for me. It really depends on the person. I wish you the best!

I have never heard of " Letrozole with injs" what is it all about. I am still just working with my gyno and not an re. My husband is self employed and his insurance doesn't cover infertility. I am trying to get a job where I will be covered with insurance that does cover infertility treatments. I will be starting my clomid again in 3 days(only 50 mg for 5 days). I get to kick it off with the period from hell. Yeah!

Letrozole is a newer drug that is a pill that is taken like Clomid and sometimes has better results with fewer s/e. I took it ans supplemented it with Repronex injections and responded much better than with Clomid and injectibles. I know what you mean about no insurance coverage, I went through that for years with tons of medical bills that we could not afford. Since Illinois is a IF mandated state I know thqt some of the companies there have excellent IF coverage. (My DH's company is based out of Illinois and has good IVF coverage, which is really a blessing for us!). Do you have the list of IF friendly employers? I have it somewhere...I will see if I can find it for you. Have a great rest of the weekend!

Sylvia,
Thanks you for explaining that to me. I would love for you to send me that list of employers. I started clomid again today. This time with metformin. It would be great if I didn't have to go through getting a new job just to be able to see an RE. It looks like you havee been through a lot. I hope this works for you!
Thank you again,
Sonya
