Let me start by saying "Hello" to everyone.

My DH, 30, and I, 31, have been together for 8 years now. We have been ttc for 6 of those years with absolutely no luck.

I have never had a regular menstrual cycle. I have been to many GYNs and all of them told me that I didn't get a cycle because of my weight. I have a history of blood clots in my legs, something else that was blamed on my weight. Last year, my cousin referred me to her GYN. He then referred me to my RE. In all of the years I have been going to a GYN, none of them even mentioned an RE.

We met with the RE and she recommended that I have a Laparascopy(sp), which I did. It showed that I have a blocked tube. She suggested that we start Provera for a few days to get a cycle, then Clomid. I had sonograms every 3 days and then a post-coital test. She told me that the CM was very thick. I was told to try Robitussin. (But which one??? DM, CF....Which one???)
She also said that the follicles weren't growing at the rate she hoped, (is there anything I can do about this?)

DH and I are currently on a diet, however I am not really calling it that. I am not sure how much weight I have lost, but I do know that my jeans are getting baggy.

I am sorry if this post is all over the place, but this is my first time EVER posting to a board.

Thanks!

Hi Rose

The fact that you do not have a regular cycle and that your follicles are not growing might be an indication of something else. Did she do bloodwork on you ie LH, FSH, Fasting insulin, testosterone etc and did she aslo take a look at your ovaries to see if they were clear. Did she say anythig about endometriosis when she did the lap?

Clomid usually helps follicles grow but if that does not work as was the case with me then you might have to move onto injectables.

Good Luck

Hi Rose

WElcome to the board.

I dont think there is much more I can add. Just one thing can the tube be unblocked. I have the same problem,
I know the cough syrup will help with the mucus. Im just not sure when and how much. I have a book at home with the answer I will look it up for you.

Has your Dh been tested as well. Many times they tend to overlook the Dh. Because we have a weight problem they tend to blame that right away.

Good Luck

I have had all of the bloodwork and she said everything came back normal. When I had the Lap., she said she found no traces of endo. She did tell me that the tube could be unblocked using ultrasonic waves. My husband has been tested and he's fine.

Thanks

Have you been checked for PCOS or for LOCAH...also it is important to have your DHEAS levels checked as well.

I hope things work out for you very soon...

Hi I was reading your story and I am not sure if you are taking clomid for 5 or 7 days. I probably have PCOS although I was never tested. I wasn't too concerned until we wanted to start trying for a baby. I have never had a regular period, I'm overweight and facial hair. With my insurance if you just start with medicine than it's considered level 1 infertility treatment and I just pay the what my prescription plan is and my $10 office visit copay but once you get referred to an RE and get testing done then you are considered level 2 and you have a $5,000 max. Anyway, the OBGYN I went to is also part of a infertility treatment so he gave me provera and than 50 mg. of clomid for 5 days and I just had a little surge. Next month not pregnant and no period so I was given provera again and 100 mg. of clomid for 5 days and I surged even less (may of been the ovulator kit too) and then the third month (around Christmas) he said lets try one more shot before switching meds. so he gave me 100 mg. of clomid for 7 days and my surge was a 16 and now I'm almost 10 1/2 weeks pregnant. Maybe you can suggest that to your re. I just needed a little bit more to get me going.
