I am clinically "morbidly obese" and want desperately to have another child. I am 5'10" and weight 315. I am currently working out at my local YMCA three to four times a week. I hope to lose 125 lbs. However, I want to conceive asap because I may be loosing my eyesight. I went to a good Dr and he has started me on clomid and Pregnel injections. This is my first round now and he said we will do three rounds before trying something else. He did not say one word to me about my weight to my surprise!! I have a wonderfully supportive husband and he even gives me my shot!! I was wandering if anyone has had luck getting pregnant on the first few rounds of clomid or without losing weight? I do now know what to expect and I don't want to get my hopes up too much yet but I can't help but hope! Any info you would like to share with me I would love to hear. I too am obese, and my RE has been simply wonderful having never mentioned my weight. We've done 3 rounds of clomid/iui, all without success.

I have now decided to take a break for a few months to lose some weight...my decision, not the dr's.

I think it is wonderful how supportive your dh is.

I'm in the process of going to the fertility doctor and yes he mention to me that I need to lose some weight.

I started working out and then stopped so far I have lost 31 pounds and still working on losing more. The doctor told me that he would like for me to 240 in the event we have to do IVF. He would like my BMI to be 40 or lower, so I would have a better chance to conceive. I don’t want to waste my three chances because of my weight I rather loss the weight. We are going to try IUI next month and I’m on metaformin now.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to take a minute to update you. I had my hsg and it was normal. No blockages or cysts, nothing at all. I also got my bloodwork back and all was normal there too. DH's semen analysis was perfect. I am in the middle of my first cycle working with my RE and I took 50mg of Clomid. They checked my ovaries and there were only two follicies and they were only 10cm. The Dr. said they should be at least 18cm so this cycle failed. He told me to come home and just wait until next cycle starts and we will do 100mg Clomid. I am trying to be hopeful since I did have follicies. I know alot of you have not made it to that point yet and I was devasted just to know that mine were there but not viable. I wanted to let you know that I am where you are" obese" I did 11 rounds of clomid. They say I ovulated once... I dont beleive it. I am now doing metformin with clomid after 23 lbs weight loss. The clomid alone didnt do to much for me but everyone is unique. I will keep you updated on if a little weight loss and metformin give clomid the boost it needs.
