I currently in the 2ww phase after an DS IUI and am wondering if I can try to lose weight during this time. What about exercising, I'm currently a couch potato... From the last 3 years ttc, I've gained 35 lbs.
I'm 38 yrs, this is my 4th IUI and I've had 1 failed IVF med cycle and another failed IVF cycle (I cycled too soon, all eggs were premature, so no eggs to transfer). I'm 5'4" and 185lbs. Do you think losing weight would affect the infertility? Oh, husband had vas reversal and has extreme antibodies. So, ICSI is the only way my husband and I can try, otherwise, we are currently trying a donor.

Hi there... I know how you feel. I am 5'3 and about 180 lbs (fluctuates so much on the meds!) My endocrinologist told me that losing only 10% of your weight can make a big difference in fertility. Also exercising is helpful. I tried all this and it didn't work but as I say, the meds make me gain it right back.
As for exercising dursing 2ww, not a good idea. I've read that if you were exercising before transfer or whatever, you continue doing that after, but introducing a new exercise probably isn't a good thing....especially this early in the possible pregnancy. Just what I've read.
Good luck!

Hi there. I am also a bit new to the forum. I am I guess what you would also consider a “plus size” woman. I am a size 18/20 and currently doing IUI treatments. I actually just asked my RE this very question this weekend. He actually recommends to all his patients a bit of exercise. It will only enhance your well being he says. He says that dieting is okay, just don’t deprive yourself of the protein, carbs, sugars ect. He recommends a diet plan like Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig that gives you everything you need but limits your intake. He also told me that once I find out I’m pregnant to discuss it with him again as the nutrient you need changes. He doesn’t recommend that you do anything to viragos if you haven’t before, walking, pilates, aerobics, water aerobics was his high recommendation, stuff like that. Training for a marathon or the Olympics isn’t a good idea! Hope this helps, cause I am like I said in the same boat, wanting to lose weight and continue to try. Good Luck to all and positive thoughts! J :D :dancing:

Hi Hope
good luck to you.
I was told not to excersise during my cycles. But my clinic did a 3 to 5 day bed rest following transfer. I wouldnt start a new excersis program at the moment. Once you know either way I would stick to walking.
